Friday Fanart: Sad Fanart Xtravaganza

It's been awhile since my last official collection of Sad Fanart! In that time, I have had many feelings, literally and figuratively drawing comfort from various sets of angsty lyrics. It's time to put those heavy feelings to rest to make room for new ones, so here is a selection from the last few years. Happy catharsis if you're in the right headspace for it! And there's a couple not-so-sad ones at the very end.

These are lyrics from Julien Baker's "Appointments".

A two-panel black and white comic. The first panel shows a view of the silhouette of a leafless tree outside a window and a small tea candle holder on the windowsill below. Next to the tree silhouette is handwritten text that says "oh i am tired of being sad". The second panel shows Claire lying in bed under a black and white checkered blanket and looking up out the window with a tired and unhappy expression. Next to the bed is a nightstand with a book on it. Handwritten text in the panel says "i feel it when i wake up, and it just stays bad" These are lyrics from Phoebe Bridgers' "Steamroller", aka "Ask Me To"

[ Phoebe Bridgers - Steamroller (Ask Me To) ]

A black and white ink drawing of Claire lying in bed under a checkered blanket, cuddling a pillow under their head with a melancholy expression. Handwritten text above and below the bed says "and there's not much i can do, not much i can change" and "can i give it up to you? would that be okay?" These are lyrics from Mitski's "Heat Lightning".

[ Mitski - Heat Lightning ]

A black and white ink drawing of Clairikine wearing short hair, a black T-shirt and black Chucks, carrying a phone with headphones in their ears and angrily singing at the top of their lungs. As you scroll down, you see the following lyrics from My Chemical Romance's "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)": "I'm noooooot ooookay, I'm not ho-kay-hay-hay-hay, I'm not oh-kay-hay-hayy, you wearrr meee oooouuuut"

[ My Chemical Romance - I'm Not Okay (I Promise) ]

A two-panel comic in black and white. The first panel shows a dark starry outlined against the tops of a row of trees. Handwritten text in white above the trees says "heavy when i get that feeling and it sends me reeling, still i'm carrying the weight". The lyrics are from Bob Moses' "Back To You". The second panel shows Claire, with short hair, a black hoodie, a white scarf, jeans and black Chucks, kneeling on the ground against the same background of trees in the dark under a starry sky. Claire is leaning back with their face aimed towards the sky, their eyes squeezed shut and screaming silently. Handwritten white text above their head says "every time i get that feeling, and i hold back screaming." These are lyrics from the same song.

[ Bob Moses - Back To You ]

A black-and-white drawing of Clairikine, a thin white person wearing a baseball cap, a flannel shirt over a white T-shirt, jeans and black Chucks, with a black hole over where their heart was, expressionless, holding their bloody heart in their hands. Text above and next to them says "I've never been that good at saying when I'm lonely, but I'm lonely now" and "I've never been that good at saying when I'm needy, but I'm needy now", which are lyrics from "Pretty Shitty Time" by Tegan and Sara

[ Tegan and Sara - Pretty Shitty Time ]

A black-and-white drawing of Clairikine lying under a blanket with their head sticking out on a pillow and their eyes wide open. Text above and below them says "can't sleep, can't sleep" and "there's too much you can't keep", which are lyrics from "There's Too Much" by Hrishikesh Hirway

[ Hrishikesh Hirway - There's Too Much ]

 ´

A black-and-white drawing of Clairikine, wearing a black shirt and black Chucks and jeans, underwater and falling as bubbles rise up around them and they look up, bewildered. Text around them in white handwriting says "and I don't know what I'm diving into, just hanging by a moment here with you. There's nothing else to lose, there's nothing else to find, there's nothing in the world that can change my mind. There is nothing else, there is nothing else", which are lyrics from "Hanging By A Moment" by Lifehouse

[ Lifehouse - Hanging By A Moment ]

A two-panel comic in black and white. The first panel shows Clairikine, a thin white person with scraggly chin-length blonde hair, wearing flannel over a black shirt, lying in bed at night on their back, staring up at the ceiling. Handwritten text in white above them says "add some years, build some trust". The lyrics are from twenty one pilots' "Oldies Station". The second panel shows Clairikine, standing in front of the window in their room in the dark. Handwritten white text next to them says "you start to feel your eyes adjust". These are lyrics from the same song.
